Mobile hotspots are fittingly designed to be used while individuals are traveling away from their home or office. @dben89x did you ever receive an answer to this? I'm looking at starting internet with either Comcast or ATT. In which case, the ATT WiFi perk is, as it appears to be, incredibly misleading.

I really have no idea how many such hotspots exist but I’m often surprised to see my iPhone connected to attwifi when I travel. I’ve not been to New York or LA recently but I have connected to attwifi in Chicago. I was just recently in San Francisco and noted my phone on attwifi when walking by ATT Park and in the Fisherman’s Wharf area.
